I began the trip early with a stay at the Keystone landing area of Fort Casey. The weather turned out to be fantastic. It was November so the temperatures were cool but there was no rain and little wind. With such fortunate weather, I took the opportunity to put some miles on the bike. The island has incredible biking possibilities so I was anxious to take advantage. Whidbey has numerous hills so this would be my first real road riding experience on something other than flat terrain. As expected, the riding was wonderful. Nothing beats cycling through a quiet Whidbey Island neighborhood on a weekday morning in late autumn. I couldn't ask for anything better.
