I arrived at the campsite just before the sun went down. The rest of my camp mates were already there so the camping area was setup. After constructing my tent and cot it was time to enjoy some libations by the fire. Unfortunately, due to drought conditions a real fire was not possible. However, thanks to the miracle of technology, I used the Campfire app on my Galaxy to simulate one. A virtual fire is better than no fire at all.

After lunch we scouted the upper Cle Elum River near the campsite and below Tuquala Lake. The river contains a number of pools and is generally wide open which is a big benefit for casting a fly line. Later in the afternoon when the sun retreated behind the ridges, conditions were right for fishing. I had several hits using slightly submerged nymphs but I was not able to bring anything to hand.
